All-Island Partner Organisation Lead
Dr Edel Tierney
Edel’s key research interests lie in participation, participatory research methods and Patient and Public Involvement (PPI), with particular emphasis on how vulnerable and marginalised groups can participate as partners and collaborators in decision-making about their healthcare and service provision. Her research has involved marginalised groups across a variety of settings using participatory research methods, often within interdisciplinary teams to generate insights that inform policy, practice and public discourse. She is committed to translating research findings into meaningful outcomes for children, young people, families, communities, organisations and decision-makers. Her research experience and scholarship span family support and child protection, implementation science, PPI, participatory research methods, research ethics and disability, alongside a long history of contribution to voluntary service delivery.
