What is the research about?
This research is looking at how adult social care services across the UK can reduce their impact on the environment while continuing to provide high-quality and fair care for everyone.
We want to understand what changes could help reduce carbon emissions in social care, what challenges services may face, and how these changes might affect people who use social care, unpaid carers and social care staff. The research will bring together different perspectives to help identify practical and realistic ways to make adult social care more environmentally sustainable without compromising the quality of care people receive.

Time commitment:
One initial induction and training session, followed by approximately six PPI meetings per year (around one meeting every two months). Meetings are expected to last approximately 1–1.5 hours and will usually take place online.
Contact between meetings:
Between meetings, PPI contributors may be contacted by email with brief project updates, documents to review or opportunities to comment on aspects of the research. There may also be optional opportunities to contribute to wider project activities, such as reviewing materials, helping to shape research outputs or attending workshops. Any additional activities will be discussed in advance and participation will be voluntary.
Length of involvement:
30 months (2.5 years), for the duration of the study.
