Join us for a day of celebration, reflection, and fun.

Come to our celebratory event where we will highlight the impact that patients, survivors, carers and loved ones have had on research through the Patient Voice in Cancer Research (PVCR), and how they can continue to positively impact cancer research.

Full details can be found on our website: https://www.ucd.ie/patientvoicecancer/newsandevents/events/adecadeofpatientinvolvement/

OVERVIEW AND BACKGROUND

Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in research is defined as an active, collaborative partnership between researchers and patients, survivors, carers, or the public. Research is conducted "with" or "by" the people the research impacts most rather than "to," "about," or "for" them.

PATIENT VOICE IN CANCER RESEARCH (PVCR)

Established in 2016, PVCR ensures patients, survivors, and their carers or loved ones are included in dialogue and decision-making processes with researchers, clinicians, and allied healthcare professionals.

This a national initiative to bring the ‘lived experience’ to research conversations. Patients and those with lived experience, including their families are important to us. What is innovative about PVCR is we value the perspectives, the stories of those who have a lived experience of a cancer diagnosis.

Over the past decade, PVCR has initiated and facilitated trusted relationships between those with a lived experience of cancer and researchers; supported the education and training of both; ensuring that research priorities reflect the lived experiences, needs and expectations of people affected by cancer.

A DECADE OF PATIENT INVOLVEMENT - PVCR'S 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT

As we mark 10 years of impact, we want to acknowledge the communities whose insights have shaped our work while also looking ahead, strengthening the foundations for the next decade of sustainable, trust‑based research partnerships.
