Introduction to Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) and Participatory Health Research (PHR)

Learning objectives:

• Define PPI and how it is supported by the principles and practice of
participatory health research
• Identify minimal requirements for meaningful public or patient involvement
in health research
• Distinguish between patients or members of the public as ‘co-researchers’
vs. ‘research participants’ (i.e., ‘subjects’ or data-sources)
