What is the research about?
What is the research opportunity about?
The Critical Care Research Programme at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, affiliated with University College Dublin, is seeking to involve patients, carers and family members who have lived or encountered an Intensive Care or High Dependency element of the hospital. Their knowledge and experience will greatly benefit both current and future research to achieve integrity and excellence. We are aiming to weave the voices and opinions of the public into how we approach research.
Who is the opportunity for?
We are looking for previous patients alongside carers, friends and family members who have been exposed to the ICU or HDU setting.
What will PPI contributors do
We would meet online every few months and aim to do a face to face gathering once a year. PPI contributors will draw from their lived experience to help shape a variety of aspects to our research including by contributing to patient information leaflets or consent forms, to the process of gaining consent from both patient and relatives, and by giving input on how critical research is done, what we can do to improve the ICU experience, how can we encourage more connection to research, and to understand what patients and families go through during this difficult time, etc.
