National PPI Festival: making waves globally
The National PPI Festival is now an established annual event each October, showcasing the breadth and depth of PPI across Ireland. The international reach of the Festival has grown year on year, with increased global impact.

Building European collaborations
A global, federated critical care PPIE programme was developed by the Irish Critical Care-Clinical Trials Network, UCD, between 2020-2025. Starting with the establishment of the Irish Critical Care-PPI Group (ICC-PPI) in 2019/2020, the team then worked with partners in Canada and Australia to inform the first platform trial during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Influence international thinking and practice
The PPI Ignite Network is now recognised as a trusted, collaborative and innovative organisation, fostering the bottom-up development of diverse approaches supporting meaningful involvement. The Network’s impact internationally is greater than the sum of its collective parts, delivering impact through many different channels.

Building European collaborations
Through participation in the ENLIGHT Network, the PPI Ignite Network @ University of Galway formed meaningful connections with several European universities interested in PPI research and scholarship.

Bringing the PPI Ignite Network story to San Francisco
A delegation of PPI Ignite Network @ UL academic and community partners attended the 51st Annual Meeting of NAPCRG, the largest and oldest international primary care research organization in November 2023, presenting 6 interactive workshops.
NAPCRG members were very excited by the Irish PPI Ignite Network model for capacity building and change, as well as both tools and research findings developed within the PPI Ignite Network. Read more here.
