The Irish Prostate Cancer Outcomes Research (IPCOR) is a national clinical quality registry based in University College Dublin (UCD). IPCOR was established to identify variability in prostate cancer treatment, outcomes and quality of life to ultimately improve patient experience.
The IPCOR project incorporates patient views through the Lived Experiences Advisory Panel (LEAP). This patient panel has provided valuable insights for improving project processes and understanding what questions are important to affected men. IPCOR is now expanding its patient and public engagement efforts with a Support-giver Symposium scheduled for Wednesday, 4th September at UCD.
This event is free and open for all individuals (partners, relatives, friends) who have significantly supported a man with prostate cancer. This 3-hour session will include small and large group discussions on selected topics highlighting the effect of prostate cancer on households and carers. This symposium will lead to a mechanism for integrating support-givers’ insight into prostate cancer research and prioritising issues affecting households.

The Irish Prostate Cancer Outcomes Research (IPCOR) aims to create a comprehensive collection of prostate cancer data and biological samples to enable advancements in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. Along with assessing the quality of care being delivered to men, IPCOR also promotes health research. Clinical data, quality of life data and biological samples are integrated in the IPCOR registry, to be used for local quality improvement, informing national governing bodies and clinical research.
