What is the research about?
The Evidence-based QUality Improvement and Patient Safety Research Network, “EQUIPS”, aims to bring together academics, healthcare workers, and patients and the public to coordinate and accelerate quality and patient safety (QPS) Research in Ireland.
The network’s work programme is split into 3 strands. The first, “Enabling” aims to put in place resources and events, to support those interested in quality and patient safety research. The second, “Understanding & Informing” aims to identify barriers and enablers to QPS research, and identify research priorities. The third, “Focusing”, aims to share examples of research in priority areas, and support further research.
Who is the opportunity for?
The network is currently seeking a PPI contributor to sit in the strand 1 and patient advisory groups with two other contributors. This is opportunity is open to any PPI partner interested in healthcare quality and safety.
What will PPI contributors do?
The Strand 1 group meets approximately every 3 months to support the work programme concerning events, network resources, and supporting capability and capacity for research. The contributor will champion the patient voice in this group. The advisory group meets once yearly and in between times, the contributor may be involved in activities relating to EQUIPS governance and research dissemination e.g., reviewing policy documents, stakeholder analysis, and co-authoring conference abstracts and dissemination material. Through network membership, there may be additional opportunities for patient partners to assist in research design and analysis, as well as participating in EQUIPS events as a speaker, or webinar host, for example.
