Peri- and Post- Menopause Support Resources, for GPs, Pharmacists and Women, in the United Kingdom and Ireland

Introduction

Research Area:

Primary Care/ women's health

What is the research about?

Menopause is universally experienced by all women, and people assigned female at birth, and can have a considerable impact on people’s lives. Previous research suggests many are unsatisfied with the current delivery of menopause-specific care, and have difficulties in accessing information about the menopause.
As part of a Master’s programme in pharmacy(MPharm), this project aims to complete a scoping review to identify academic and non-academic resources available for women, GPs and Pharmacists in the UK and Ireland which provide support and advice about the menopause. We are looking to gain experience in involvement through the creation of a PPI advisory group during the research project.
Who is the opportunity for?

We hope to include a diverse range of women, including from different parts of the country, with different ages, and different ethnic backgrounds. Any women who have experienced the menopause, are currently experiencing the menopause, or who are yet to experience the menopause and who are interested, are very welcome to get in touch.
Our PPI Plans

PPI Contributors will be invited to join our advisory group which will meet once prior to the beginning of the research project during an online meeting. The PPI advisory group will help to support the planning of this research by setting the inclusion/exclusion criteria for the review, and to help in the development of the research aims/objectives by drawing on their lived experience. We hope to plan for future PPI opportunities as the research progresses.
