Project aurora – Looking at the next generation of heart failure monitoring solutions

Introduction

Research Area:

Heart Failure/ Remote Patient Monitoring

What is the research about?

We are exploring the future of remote monitoring solutions for heart failure. Based at the university of Galway, our research group is developing a minimally invasive implant, placed just beneath the skin on the chest, designed to predict and prevent hospitalisations. This technology aims to provide both patients and healthcare providers with ongoing reassurance about the patient’s condition.

Who is the opportunity for?
As part of this work, we want to understand patients’ perspectives. We will create a patient advisory panel, made up of 6 members. We are looking for patients and carers with lived experience of heart failure. There are no exclusions and we encourage diversity (age, geography, stage of disease).
What will PPI contributors do?
In our panel, PPI contributors will share how they feel about such a device, their views on current care, and what they would like to see in the future. We would like the PPI group to help factor in the human aspect to our heart failure project, this would involve reviewing device design and interaction with device data as well as looking at how the current care pathway could be modified with our device.  Their insights will help shape and guide the development of our heart failure device and in turn the future of heart failure care.
