Our impact

What is impact?

We consider impact to be the demonstrable contribution that the PPI Ignite Network makes to the national and international research ecosystem. We  promote excellence and inspire innovation in PPI in health and social care research in Ireland.

Our impact framework  

Starting from the initial impact expectations of the our main funder, the HRB, we developed an Impact Assessment Framework. We used the principles and tools of the ESFRI,  developed to monitor the performance of research infrastructures, and we drew on a variety of evidence-based frameworks developed to measure research impact, including some developed for participatory health research. 

We identified target impact areas and tools and approaches to capture evidence of impact. Here is our Impact Assessment  Framework.

Impacting the national ecosystem  

We asked some stakeholders external to the Network what they think the impact of the PPI Ignite Network has been and what they feel are the next steps to further progress meaningful PPI  across the Irish research ecosystem.  Listen to their reflections here.  

Our PAB on impact 

Our Public Advisory Board has played a very significant role in the PPI Ignite Network. We asked some PAB members to talk about the impact being a member of the PAB has had on them and on the impact the PPI Ignite Network has had since 2021. 

Our national partners 

Our national partners are key stakeholders in our Network. Their commitment to working in partnership with us and with each other to strengthen the public and patient voice across the research ecosystem has been transformational.
